Quora: Why do so many look down upon the entertainment industry?
A: The only part of the entertainment industry that I can think of, that would have a bad reputation, would be porn.
My impression is that most people love entertainers and want to be either near them, be like them or become one.
If you have encountered prejudices against the industry, it could be that those voicing these opinions are jealous.
It is not uncommon for someone to reject the very things that they secretly long for.
Failed actors may be critical of the movie industry, those who have been rejected from art school may become resentful of the art world, anti-gay pastors turn out to have male lovers… You get the idea.
